Free Ride / Half Fare IDs
Effective, Sunday, August 14, 2011, MCT is making adjustments to its Free Ride program.
Please see the information below regarding changes to the Free Ride and Half Fare ID program.
Please call 618-797-4900 if you have questions.
ID distribution sessions are held the first Wednesday of every month at the MCT Edwardsville Station
from 4 to 6 p.m. Please see the following guidelines below to ensure you qualify for a half-fare or
free ride MCT ID.

MCT Senior Free Ride ID:(Current Senior ID holders must re-register and receive a new ID)
- Madison County seniors who live in the Madison County Transit District* and whose income is
less than $27,610 a year for a one-person household, $36,635 for a two-person household and $45,657
for a three-person household can register with the Dept. on Aging to receive the MCT Senior Free Ride ID.

MCT is not responsible for registering seniors. The registration process is through the Illinois Dept. on Aging.

This ID is valid for free unlimited rides on any MCT fixed-route bus.

This ID is valid for half fare rides on MetroLink trains or MetroBuses in St. Clair County and Missouri.

Once registered, please bring a valid photo ID to a MCT ID Distribution Session at the MCT Edwardsville Station
on the first Wednesday of the month from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
MCT Circuit Breaker Free Ride ID:(For current Circuit Breaker ID holders, there is no change)
- Illinois residents who are enrolled in the Circuit Breaker program can receive the MCT Circuit
Breaker Free Ride ID by showing a valid photo ID at a MCT ID Distribution Session.

MCT staff verifies enrollment in the Circuit Breaker program through an online database at the Dept. on Aging.

This ID is valid for free unlimited rides on any MCT fixed-route bus.

This ID is NOT valid for free rides on MetroLink trains or MetroBuses in St. Clair County and Missouri.
MCT ADA Free Ride ID:(Current ADA ID holders may continue to ride free in MCT, but not in Missouri)
- Registered ACT Paratransit, ADA-eligible users can receive the MCT ADA Free Ride ID by showing a valid photo ID at a MCT ID Distribution Session. Enrollment is verified with ACT Paratransit.

These individuals can ride free with their MCT Paratransit ID (issued by Paratransit) or a MCT ADA Free Ride ID.

This ID is valid for free unlimited rides on any MCT fixed-route bus.

This ID is valid for free rides on MetroLink trains or MetroBuses in St. Clair County.

This ID is valid for half fare rides on MetroLink trains or MetroBuses in Missouri.
MCT Half Fare ID:(For Half Fare ID holders, there is no change)
- Madison County seniors (65 and up) who live outside of the MCT District* can receive a MCT Half Fare ID by
attending a MCT ID Distribution and showing a valid photo ID . Disabled individuals with a valid Medicare card
may receive a Half Fare ID by showing a valid photo ID at a MCT ID Distribution Session.

Seniors who live in the MCT District* and do not meet the income requirement can also receive a MCT Half
Fare ID by showing a valid photo ID at a MCT ID Distribution Session.

This ID is valid for half fare rides on any MCT fixed-route bus.

This ID is valid for half fare rides on MetroLink trains and MetroBuses in St. Clair County and in Missouri.
Metro & SCCTD Free Ride & Half Fare IDs:(These IDs cannot be received at a MCT ID Distribution. You must contact Metro or SCCTD.)
- MCT will accept all Metro & St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) Free Ride and Half Fare media for half fare only.
* Madison County Transit District townships: Alton, Chouteau, Collinsville, Edwardsville, Fort Russell, Foster,
Godfrey, Granite City, Helvetia, Jarvis, Moro, Nameoki, Saline, St. Jacob, Venice, Wood River.
